Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Megan. I am a mother of four awesome little kiddos, and I love to travel, photography, crafting and doing DIY projects. I live in Missouri, near St. Louis, and don't let the stereotypes fool you! There is so much more than corn fields here, and I'll write you all about it and more.
I am on a journey to escape my terrible job where I work weekends and holidays and have to answer to a boss...so I'm taking my life back and I now run my own travel agency and I'm gonna take a stab at this blogging thing, because I love traveling and I could talk about it all day! I hope to be able to fire my boss by the end of the year.
So for my first post, I am going to talk about travel agents and why it might be beneficial to you to hire one. Most agents, including myself are FREE! Some do charge for their services and that's ok too! We work on commissions and we don't see those commissions until about 45-60 days after you check out of your trip and we spend a lot of time researching and making sure everything is perfect for your trip. So don't feel cheated if they do want to charge a fee, they gotta eat too!
Now the real talk. What can a travel agent do for me, you ask? Well, we have a large database of suppliers and often get special discount rates. We do lots of research to put together a well balanced itinerary for you. We do our best to read the client and give them what they want. You will save lots of your precious time but not having to do all the research yourself. No information overload! No spending hours reading through countless hotels and reviews. We can narrow it down to a few options tailored to your specific needs. Plus travel agents will have valuable information about destinations, travel advisories, tips, tricks, and hacks.
Another perk of having an agent in your corner is that if anything were to go wrong before during or after the trip they can usually handle that for you. They will be your advocate. They are just one phone call away.
To get the best out of your travel agent experience, give as many details as possible. The more they know about you and your trip, the better they can find you the best options. And please, give them a budget! It is so hard to sift through thousands of hotels not knowing what the client is willing to spend. Rest assured that if you give them a $2000 budget, they are gonna show you the best places that they can find for $2000.
If you are planning a luxury vacation or a special trip like an anniversary or a honeymoon, chances are, if you got a good agent, they are gonna try to make it special for you. So don't leave out these details!
Whether you decide to use a travel agent or not, I wish you happy vacationing, and safe travels! Come back for more and see what else I conjure up to write about. I'm going to be taking my first trip to Mexico soon and I can't wait to write all about it!
